Candace Stowell, AICP, Senior Associate with Wells Barnett Associates.
Candace has been a professional urban planner for more than 25 years and has worked in the public and non-profit sectors and as a private consultant. She has worked in Northern and Southern Nevada, as well as in Arizona and Colorado. She most recently provided consulting services for the Town of Gardnerville and previously served as the Planning Manager for Douglas County, NV and as Planning Bureau Director for the City of Harrisburg, PA. Candace has worked for the City of Raleigh, the North Carolina Housing Finance Agency, the Durham Affordable Housing Coalition, Clark County, NV, the Maricopa Association of Governments Transportation Planning Office, Adams County, CO and Douglas County, CO.
Candace has expertise in development regulations, comprehensive plans, public outreach, training workshops, grant writing, neighborhood revitalization, federal housing and community development programs, brownfields redevelopment, and affordable housing.
Candace currently serves as Secretary for the Nevada Chapter of the American Planning Association and also serves on the Board of Western Planning Resources (publisher of the Western Planner Journal). She was appointed to the Carson City, NV School Board in June 2013.
Candace earned her Masters in Urban Planning from the University of Kansas in Lawrence, KS and her B.A. in Political Science from George Washington University. She has been a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) since 1989 and chaired the APA Housing and Community Development Division from 2004 to 2008.
